David entered the United States of America on March 12, 2016 through the port of El Paso with his wife and infant child. In Cuba, David was a journalist and activist but eventually came to the United States with his wife and baby. David, very eager to work in the U.S. was determined to take on any challenge. He began taking English classes for more job opportunities and was eager to begin making a living for him self and his family and as he would say: “I will do any work. I want to work. I need to work.” In October of 2016, David found employment and his employer was very happy to have him. David and his family lived in an apartment that was scarcely furnished. Due to David’s hard work, determine and perseverance, the non-profit organization, Lutheran Services of Florida, nominate David Aguila Montero and his family for El Dorado Furniture’s 50 Years/50 Families Community Relations Campaign, and they were recipients for this wonderful life changing opportunity!
