Darshelle Thompson adopted six of her grandchildren after their mother was unable to safely care for them. The six children range from the ages of seventeen months to twelve years old. Darius, who is now five, was born with fetal alcohol syndrome and developmental delays and Ernest, who is now three, has a history of seizures. Even with the new responsibility of raising a large family, Darshelle has kept a smile on her face and does her best to make sure the children’s needs are met. They live in a four-bedroom home in Dania and were using donated beds and bins as dressers. In addition, Darshelle’s family did not have any dining room furniture. El Dorado Furniture partnered with Forever Family and ChildNet and helped furnish their home for the 50 Years 50 Families Community Relations Campaign.
